Mansa Devi is one of the most popular 9 divine powers in Himachal Pradesh. Mansa means desire and Meri Maiya who fulfills the desire of her devotees, is popularly known as Mansa Devi. The temple is dedicated to Mansa Devi, a form of Shakti (Power). Located in near Chandigarh,Panchkula District of Haryana. Mansadevi is said have born from the mind of Saint Kashyap. She is regarded as the wife of Nag Raja Vasuki. This temple is one of the most prominent temples of North India. Mansa Devi is one of the famous Siddh Peethas (Holy Places where one's wishes are fulfilled)

This temple is said to have been built by the ruler of Mani Majra (C.A.D.1815). The legend is that originally the shrine was in the territory of earst while Princely state of Nahan and the stream which supplied water to the pilgrims visiting the temple, was cut off by some hill people causing great distress to the pilgrims. There upon the goddess appeared in dream of Gurbax Singh, ruler of Mani Majra and asked him to construct a temple for her at this place. This temple contains thirty-eight panels of wall paintings besides floral designs painted all over the ceiling and the arches leading into the temple. The drawings of the temple shows a great variety of themes is illustrated. The other temple is said to have been constructed by Maharaja Karam Singh of earst while Patiala State 9C.A.D. 1861) to commemorate his success in the battle against the Gurkhas.The fairs are held twice a year in March-April (Chat shudiashtami) and September-October (asoj shudi ashtami). Mansa Devi Temple is an ancient temple that attracts people from both far and near due to its significance. It is believed that the Goddess fulfills all the wishes of a sincere devotee. Actually, the term 'Mansa' is the altered form of word 'Mansha', which means 'wish'.

To visit the temple, pilgrims have to follow a queue for the 'darshan' of the Goddess. People usually tie threads on a holy tree that is located in the vicinity of the temple asking the Goddess to fulfill their wishes. On the fulfillment of the wishes, people come to untie the thread from the same tree once again. The temple is of great importance to the followers of Hinduism.
